Mechanical Lymphatic Therapy – Upper Limbs (RAGodoy®)

RAGodoy® for the upper limbs is an electromechanical device that performs elbow flexion and extension. Therefore, its mechanism of action is to exert vis-a-latere pressure on the vessels and increase the pressure in the interstitial space thereby potentiating the formation and drainage of lymph. This form of treatment is similar to that of the RAGodoy® apparatus for the lower limbs. The apparatus can be used for several hours, but with less tolerance than with the legs. Thus, the period of good tolerability is two to three hours; it is often associated in 8-hour intensive treatment sessions with Manual Lymphatic Therapy adapted for breast cancer-related lymphedema. It can be associated with compression such as with a grosgrain sleeve or bandages.
