This is a new concept of constraint in the treatment of lymphedema. Grosgrain sleeves are homemade constraint garments. Several studies have been developed and others are underway. Studies show the efficiency of grosgrain garments in reducing edema and maintaining results. These sleeves are well tolerated, but it is critical that the patient or family member learns how to correctly dress the garment and identify problems such as the formation of creases in any restraint mechanism. Grosgrain sleeves can be used to reduce or maintain results. After normalization of the size of the limb, it is possible to alternate elastic compression sleeves with grosgrain sleeves.
